"Being Greek, I am very familiar with the adjective kinetic as it has its roots in the Greek word kinesis, meaning "motion". But apart from the obvious physical movement, we are surrounded by it in nature, our own reactions are related to e-motion and that is what the Willem combo is all about. Driven by our inner emotional force, it conveys a dark, moody atmosphere with a vintage cinematic appearance.
My allies in this endeavour were the Blanko C16 film with subdued tones that change the original pragmatic hues and add a distanced, intangible allure to the photos. To complement this, the Kutako lens was an obvious choice and a firm favourite, since the introduction of the Windhoek HipstaPak. With its soft focus, you can control the extent of the blurred effect by eliminating its percentage in the editing suite; it brings out the essential in a dreamy way.
While the Glow Pop flash, with its warmth, counterbalances the muted cyan tones of the lens and film, giving the photo a final posh touch. Mixing old gear with new has always been a constant challenge for me and I believe it’s definitely worth a try.
Feeling emotionally challenged? This is a combo that will highlight the subtle motion of hair blown in the wind or raindrops on a window seal, just to mention a few, in an introverted and poetic way. So if you are a landscape or portrait fanatic and you want to escape the straightforward depiction of things, you will find something intriguing in Willem. Dig in!"
